Who am I?

My name is Idoia. I come from Spain.

For 8 eight years I have worked as Spanish teacher for kids in Shenzhen, China, and enjoyed every minute of it. That’s why I continue to teach online after getting back to Spain.

My aim is to help excellent Chinese-speaking students to access the best possible education and have the best possible future prospects.

I think it’s very important for them to develop their global communication skills and understanding of the world.

I really love to help kids discover a western language other than English, and open a window for them to the hispanic world and culture.

FAQ

My kid is in Kindergarten now. Can we start having lessons with you?

Your kid is a bit young for my lessons. I teach kids that have already learned pinyin and are familiar with the alphabet. Ideally should be at least 8 years old.

How frequent should the lessons be?

Short, frequent lessons are more effective than long, spaced-out sessions.  However, you should decide according to your child’s needs and possibilities.

What should I get ready to have the lesson?

A computer or tablet with a working microphone and camera.
A quiet place where your child feels relaxed and comfortable to interact with me.

What platform will be used for the lessons?

Tencent Meeting.
However, it’s fine if you prefer another platform such as Skype, Zoom, etc. They are all free and easy to use.

What if there are technical problems during the lesson?

If the lesson cannot take place due to technical problems (slow connection, camera failure, sound, etc.) caused by the teacher, it will be rescheduled free of charge.

If the problems were caused by the student and the class could not be held, it will be considered as taught and will not be rescheduled.

Do I need to be present during my child's lesson?

Ideally you should not be present. Once you check all is up and running, let your kids be the protagonists and take responsibility for their learning.

What are the payment options?

You can use WeChat, Alipay, Paypal or bank transfer. I’ll provide all the necessary details.

Can we change or cancel a lesson?

Of course. You can always cancel or reschedule a lesson as long as you give me a 24-hour notice. Otherwise the lesson will be considered as taught.

If your child is going to be late and you let me know in advance, we will start the class when he/she arrives. The late arrival time will be deducted from the 40 minutes scheduled.

If you do not let me know and your child does not log in at the agreed time, I will wait for 10 minutes before logging out and the class will be considered as taught.

Does my kid need to be good at English?

Not at all. Knowing another foreign language is always helpful when learning a new language, but they don’t need to be especially good at it.

I can’t speak Spanish and my English is not too good. How can we communicate?

Don’t worry. We can use my Chinese, and machine translations can be useful, too.
